Defensive Edge Martial Arts Academy’s Free Women’s Self Defense Seminar
Defensive Edge Martial Arts Academy is offering its free Women’s Self-Defense Clinic on September 13, 2010 from 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm at the school, 18 Del Carmine Street in Wakefield.
Designed to empower women ages 13 years old and up, this class helps participants increase their options and preparedness in the event of an attack. Rick Alford, Defensive Edge Founder and Head Instructor, reviews safety strategies, powerful verbal skills, and easy to remember physical techniques in this one-hour introductory program. The clinic also raises awareness of dangerous situations, show how to de-escalate or interrupt an attack, and provide tools to help resist, escape and survive a violent attack.
Alford offers this clinic free of charge as a service to the local community. The Spring session received so much excellent feedback that Alford decided to run a Fall program as well. “Many women want this kind of program, but are intimidated about actually taking it. I’ve developed this class to adapt to every age and ability so that you don’t have to be an athlete to learn how to defend yourself,” he explains.
Participants are asked to wear comfortable clothing. For more information, please call 781-245-0250 or email
