MMA – Mixed Martial Arts Classes.
MMA is one of the most exciting sports in the World!
Our MMA program is led by veteran Fighters and Martial Artists. We have a prolific team of Pro and Anteater fighters who have shown huge success in the cage and ring. Defensive Edge’s Mixed Martial Arts classes teach aspects of Muay Thai, Boxing, Wrestling and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. These arts are blended into what is now commonly known as MMA. These classes will improve self confidence and motivate you to strive to be the best you can be both in and out of class. In MMA you will successfully learn how to properly strike and defend an opponent. Striking is accomplished with hands, shins, knees and elbows. You’ll also be trained to achieve proper defensive techniques and angles needed to avoid strikes. Students of MMA learn Muay Thai and Western Boxing to effectively use techniques to defend themselves in a stand-up confrontation.
In MMA, Jiu-Jitsu and wrestling give you an understanding of the grappling & ground game. In this portion of the class, you are shown how to control your opponent’s positions by controlling their posture. You will learn to attack your opponent by using various techniques such as chokes, armbars and take-downs. You will successfully learn how to defend against these types of attacks against their person.
The MMA portion of the class is dedicated to training both parts of MMA together, after students master the basics. The curriculum includes sparring, however it isn’t a requirement. All of our instructors are highly trained and care about ‘proper instruction’ of each and every student. All techniques are shown, broken down and taught in a slow, controlled and most importantly, supervised environment, until such a time as the instructors feel the student has mastered the technique.
